As a designer my goal is adapting human living to our environment through the interior and exterior structures of buildings from adding an atrium, green rooftops, or plant walls inside as well as on the outside of the building to designing the structure to model earth berms. My perspective as a designer is to think not only about the “users” but the spaces they are taking up by designing buildings that are enjoyable to the user and that also compensate for the space it is taking up. Environmental sustainability is an important aspect of my design because without it we won’t have homes to design for. When designing I’m also a solutionist, I like a challenge and enjoy solving problems through innovative designs. My aesthetic leans towards Modern and Industrial Design. The only way you will ever truly live is through stepping out of your comfort “zone,” and I know this to be true as I continue my work as a designer.

As an artist my intent is to open the viewer’s eye to the sacredness of spirituality and the security love relationships bring to humanity through sculpture. I use a variety of media such as clay, wire and string. I believe clay is the best material for my sculptures because not only is it easy to manipulate, it also represents the flexibility of energy. For example, in my Twine Flame Series, I use positive and negative space in a kneaded wad of clay to give viewers the impression of a masculine and feminine figure. The masculine is physically supporting the feminine while the feminine supports the masculines more vulnerable emotional side. Viewers see two abstract figures in the sculptures, leaving their mind open to the possibility of “what if?” What if the sculpture is not of two different people or “energies,"  but of two parts of the same energy in one person? Just as there are two parts in my “artwork,” there are two parts of me, the artist and the designer.
