Manifesto

In a religious aspect, I am an enlightened spiritual being inside a physical vessel going through life’s journey, but to the rest of the world I’m Mileek Jamar Davis. I’m outgoing and always like to stay productive but art has taught me throughout life to relax, calm down and slow your roll. I find myself becoming an entirely different person when I really put my focus into my work, I became Mileek the artist. Time escapes me and becomes a figment of my imagination along with the hustle and bustle of my conscious mind. That’s why I love art and feel it’s important to be both Artist and Designer. Abstract art clears my mind of the negativity of real world struggles and gives me a break from the restrictiveness of the designer world, It’s like my own private getaway.  When creating works of art, it brings out my inner child, eliminates the rules that bind me in the adult and introduces me to the world of unknown. It’s like if you were walking in the middle of downtown Chicago you never know what or who you'll bump into. It leaves room for even more creativity than if I was just a designer or just a realist artist. Creativity is when there's an absence of form. Everything intertwines, masculinity and feminine energy become one, negative becomes positive, and the impossible becomes possible. When I feel too lost in creative thought that I end up losing myself in the process, I have the design world to ground me keeping me on track and rationalizing everything that I do.
